The Independent Observer to Monitor the Recount Process in All Territorial Electoral Commissions
The Independent Observer will monitor the recount process in all territorial electoral commissions. This is stated in the press release of the observation mission: "The electoral code stipulates that the territorial electoral commissions must begin the recount of the voting results in separate polling stations on the second day after the elections.
The recount is performed based on the following order:
- Three polling stations are randomly selected by drawing;
- The Commission may initiate a recount in a given polling station on its own initiative if issues are noticed or if a member of the Commission who has stated a special opinion in the protocol has submitted a request;
- The present authorized person or candidate has requested a recount.
Moreover, even if the applicant later withdraws or is absent, the recount is carried out if the application has been accepted.
Currently, mandatory drawing is starting in the territorial electoral commissions," noted the Independent Observer. It is reminded that mandatory drawing for recounting will take place in all 10 electoral commissions of Yerevan.
