Three Days of Mourning Declared in Morocco After Devastating Earthquake
The King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, has declared three days of mourning following a devastating earthquake that struck the country.
According to RIA Novosti, the King ordered assistance to be provided to all those who lost their homes due to the earthquake, as well as to expedite search and rescue operations.
The number of casualties from the earthquake in Morocco has reached 1,037, with another 1,204 individuals sustaining injuries. This information was reported by the Al-Arabiya television channel, citing the Ministry of Interior. It was noted that more than 720 of the injured are in critical condition.
It is worth recalling that the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that on September 9, at 02:11 Yerevan time, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 occurred in Morocco, approximately 80 kilometers from Marrakech. According to the National Institute of Geophysics of Morocco, the earthquake had a magnitude of 7.
