Hajiyev Comments on Why Azerbaijani Armed Forces are on Combat Readiness

The Azerbaijani armed forces are conducting planned exercises to prepare for the autumn-winter season. Hikmet Hajiyev, the head of the external policy department of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, stated this in an interview with Reuters.

"This is part of a regular planning process," he added, accusing Armenia of accumulating troops at the border and procuring new weapon systems.

He noted that the Armenian forces located in Nagorno-Karabakh have also left their barracks and have been deployed to the front line in a high state of readiness.

"Our strategy is to suppress and neutralize any armed or illegal military actions or provocations against Azerbaijan," the presidential assistant further stated.
