France Begins Withdrawal of Troops from Niger: Le Monde
France is starting the process of withdrawing its forces from Niger. This was reported by the newspaper Le Monde, citing its sources.
France has initiated negotiations with Nigerien military officials regarding the possibility of withdrawing certain units from the African country. Currently, there are approximately 1,500 French military personnel stationed in Niger.
Earlier, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna stated that French troops in Niger are de facto unable to fulfill the tasks of training Nigerien soldiers and assisting them in counter-terrorism efforts.
