Clashes Erupt at Afghanistan-Pakistan Border

Clashes have erupted between Afghan military forces and Pakistani border troops, according to eyewitness reports cited by RIA Novosti.

According to them, the fighting began in the area around the Torkham border crossing, where gunfire has been heard.

As a result of the incident, thousands of civilians are trapped. Peaceful residents on both sides of the border are leaving their homes and attempting to flee the dangerous area.

The Torkham border crossing is one of three key trade and transit routes between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Islamabad uses the Torkham crossing to transport its goods to Central Asia.
