Ancient Gold Jewelry and Semi-Precious Stones 'Disappear' from British Museum
Ancient gold jewelry and semi-precious stones have disappeared from a British museum, with most of the items dating back to the 15th century BC. According to the Daily Mail, the employee responsible for the items has already been dismissed. They plan to sue the employee.
A statement from the cultural institution indicates that the collection of items has been “lost, stolen, or damaged.” The museum's management promises to find the missing specimens but admits that it will be “a laborious task.”
It is presumed that the valuable items were stolen over an extended period, prior to the display of the collection. Recently, it had been stored in a vault and used mainly for research purposes.
It has been noted that the police have joined the search operations, but the likelihood of recovering the stolen items is low.
