Iran and Russia's Support Played a Key Role for Syria, Says Bashar Assad
Iran and Russia's support for Syria played a crucial role and helped the Arab Republic withstand the crisis it faced. This opinion was expressed by Syrian President Bashar Assad in an interview with Sky News Arabia.
“The support from our friends [from Iran and Russia] had a significant impact on Syria's survival,” said Assad.
“Relations with Russia and Iran have proven that Syria knows how to choose its friends wisely,” he added.
At the same time, the Syrian leader emphasized that friends cannot replace Syrians “either in war, in battle, or in demonstrating resilience,” and that “true resilience,” according to him, was manifested during the crisis by the Syrians themselves.
