Participants of the Corridor Unblocking Action Head Towards Stepanakert Airport
Today, those gathered at the Renaissance Square in Stepanakert, wishing to participate in the peaceful march for the unblocking of the Berdzor Corridor, decided to meet with the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, General Lentsov.
This was stated by Vrezh Balasanyan, a representative of the headquarters of the popular movement for the unblocking of the corridor, in an interview with Step1.am.
Two buses carrying about 50 people are heading to Stepanakert Airport, which is located near the main base of Russian peacekeepers. The participants intend to demand a meeting with Lentsov to address two main questions: whether the Russian peacekeepers are prepared to ensure the security of the peaceful march and whether they intend to deny widespread reports that Russian troops are allegedly planning to attack Azerbaijani checkpoints under the guise of the peaceful march.
If the participants' demands are not met, they plan to block the entrances and exits of the airport.
Although the date for the march organized by the headquarters of the popular movement for the unblocking of the corridor has not yet been announced, preparatory work is underway. It was also announced that about a dozen vehicles have been added to the buses at the square. Private companies have provided the transportation.
