VIDEO: Protesters Block Parliament Entrances in Jerusalem to Prevent Voting
In Jerusalem, protesters have blocked all access roads to the parliamentary building to prevent voting on judicial reforms. The Israeli police have deployed water cannons to disperse the demonstrators.
It is noteworthy that mass protests have resumed in various regions of Israel. The protesters are expressing their opposition to the policy of the government led by Benjamin Netanyahu and its proposed reform plan, which aims to limit the Supreme Court's powers and grant the executive branch the authority to oversee the selection of judges.
The initiative, presented by the cabinet at the beginning of the year, sparked intense backlash from the opposition, which argues that the reform, in its current form, would undermine the foundations of democracy. Protests have been ongoing for 29 weeks.
