Peacekeepers are importing supplies by helicopter for themselves, while the population of Artsakh is left to starve: Artsakh Ombudsman
For a month now, Artsakh has been completely cut off from humanitarian access, literally besieged by Azerbaijan. Since June 15, the deliberate and complete blockade of food and essential goods imports threatens the lives of 120,000 people. Azerbaijan also blocked the import of medications and patient transfers by the International Committee of the Red Cross as of yesterday.
This was stated by the Ombudsman of Artsakh, Gegham Stepanyan, on his Facebook page: “Peacekeepers are importing supplies by helicopter for themselves, while the entire population of Artsakh is being left to starvation, and international actors are taking no action beyond their statements. The international community is waiting for thousands of people to die before expressing two-faced condolences later. I demand the International Committee of the Red Cross to activate the emergency response to the risk of genocide of the people. You can do this. My people are left at the mercy of everyone’s criminal indifference. I reiterate: the situation in Artsakh is catastrophic.”
