International Community Awaits Thousands to Die: Artsakh Human Rights Defender
For a month now, Artsakh has been completely cut off from humanitarian access, literally besieged by Azerbaijan. Since June 15, the deliberate total blockade of food and essential goods imports threatens the lives of 120,000 people. Azerbaijan has also blocked the import of medicines and the transportation of patients to Artsakh by the International Committee of the Red Cross since yesterday.
This was stated by Artsakh's Human Rights Defender Gegham Stepanian on his Facebook page. He noted, “Peacekeepers are making imports by helicopter for their own maintenance, while the entire population of Artsakh is left to famine, and international actors are taking no steps beyond their declarations. The international community is waiting for thousands to die so that they can later express insincere regrets.”
He demands that the International Committee of the Red Cross activate the warning signal of the danger of genocide against the people. “You can do this. My people are left to the criminal indifference of everyone. I repeat—the situation in Artsakh is desperate.”
