Scholz Comments on Erdogan's Statement
The Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, has commented on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement, who agreed to support Sweden's NATO membership if the EU opens its doors for his country. This was conveyed to reporters in Berlin by the German Chancellor, as reported by European Pravda, citing Tagesspiegel.
Scholz urged Erdogan not to link Sweden's NATO membership bid with Turkey's EU integration. He emphasized that these issues are unrelated.
Scholz also reiterated that Sweden has met all the requirements for NATO membership. “I hope that soon we will succeed in making Sweden a NATO member,” he added.
