VIDEO: Negotiations Must Include the Status of Artsakh as an Autonomous Region, Oskenyan
Former Foreign Minister Vardan Oskenyan reiterated his recent proposal to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. In a live Facebook broadcast, he presented an alternative that could exist concerning the current government's policy on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
According to Oskenyan, the negotiation agenda needs to be expanded because, in his view, there are no Armenian demands on the table, only Azerbaijani ones. He stated, 'The negotiation process must incorporate the fact that Artsakh is an autonomous region, which is very important, and this should be emphasized. This is what can bring drastic changes to the negotiation dynamics and provide new opportunities for a favorable resolution for Armenia.'
'In 1991, the Artsakh people were given the chance to strive for self-determination, and this became clear to the international community because Artsakh had the status of an autonomous region. This must be brought to the negotiation table, and it will yield results; I am 100% convinced of this,' the diplomat added.
