Washington Secretly Expresses Discontent to Kyiv Over Nord Stream Attacks
Washington has secretly expressed discontent to Volodymyr Zelensky's team regarding the attacks on the Nord Stream pipelines, which, according to media reports, occurred with the participation of the Ukrainian side. This was reported by Newsweek, citing a senior official from U.S. military intelligence.
RIA Novosti also includes quotes from the publication. Newsweek states, "Washington conveyed its secret displeasure to Zelensky's government concerning the Nord Stream attacks last September, but this sabotage was followed by other strikes, including the recent drone attack on the Kremlin."
It is noted that these strikes have raised questions regarding one of the CIA's primary responsibilities in intelligence — having adequate information about what Ukrainians plan and simultaneously influencing them while "staying true to the secret agreement with Moscow."
Recall that on September 26, 2022, explosions were recorded in two pipelines exporting Russian gas to Europe, Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2. Germany, Denmark, and Sweden did not rule out the possibility of a targeted diversion. The operator of Nord Stream, Nord Stream AG, reported that the incidents in the pipelines were unprecedented and that the timelines for repairs could not be estimated. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has initiated a case on international terrorism.
