Over 3000 Elevators in Yerevan Required Replacement, City Hall Reports
In Yerevan, 3,198 elevators are in need of replacement, according to the press service of the Yerevan City Hall.
The city’s construction authorities report that from 2019 to the present, a total of 1,041 elevators have been replaced in the capital's buildings.
It is noted that the installation of each elevator takes 40 days and is carried out with special precision. Each cabin can hold a load of around 600 kg.
“At the same time, elevators are being installed at over 100 addresses. The cabins are designed to accommodate individuals with disabilities and are also user-friendly for those with visual impairments. The brand-new elevators are equipped with safety systems as well as air conditioning. They are also energy-efficient, reducing electricity costs by approximately 50%,” the Yerevan City Hall stated.
The authorities also mentioned that in case of power outages, a modern system will ensure the cabin does not stop. It will reach the next floor, and the doors will automatically open to allow people to exit.
The city government plans to replace about 700 elevators in 2023.
