Video: Chief Prosecutor of Chuvashia Drowns While Swimming in Volga
The Chief Prosecutor of the Chuvash Republic, Andrei Fomin, has died in Russia. According to Russian media reports, he drowned during the annual Chebswim swimming event.
The incident reportedly occurred while he was swimming along the Volga River. Around 1:00 PM, one of the participants began to feel unwell and started to struggle in the water. It was later revealed that he had died suddenly.
Rescue workers pulled him from the water and handed him over to doctors, but they were unable to save him. Andrei Fomin participated in the swimming competition every year, and this year he had planned to swim 2,200 meters in the river.
