Trump Discusses Relationship with Putin
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he has a good and strong relationship with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, although they have not spoken for a long time. The American politician made this remark during an interview with Fox News.
"I have a very good relationship with Putin. I mean, I haven’t spoken to him in a long time, but I have a very strong relationship with Putin," Trump said.
According to the former U.S. president, if he had remained in office, the special military operation in Ukraine would not have started.
Earlier, Putin indicated that if there had been a different administration in the U.S., the Kremlin might have chosen a different approach to resolving the situation in Ukraine.
At the same time, the Russian leader reminded that during Trump's presidency, which occurred without the ongoing events in Ukraine, he imposed a significant number of sanctions against the Russian Federation, despite the U.S. accusing Russia of interfering in the elections to bring him to power.
Putin declared that Moscow and Washington now hardly maintain communications.
