Stabbing Incident Marks Final Bell Ceremony Rehearsal in Ararat Province
On May 25, a rehearsal for the final bell ceremony at a school in Ararat Province ended in a stabbing incident, reports shamshyan.com.
Around 10:40 PM, the Artashat Medical Center contacted the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs' Artashat Police Department, reporting that a young man had been admitted with a "penetrating abdominal injury, internal and external bleeding, and hemorrhagic shock." Medical personnel informed the police that the victim was in critical condition, undergoing surgery, and unable to provide any explanation about the incident.
While doctors fought to save the victim's life, police officers from the Ararat regional administration and the Artashat police department determined that the injured individual was 22-year-old Sahak Sahakyan, a resident of the village of Aygezard. Authorities also discovered that around 10:00 PM, at the intersection of Garibyan and Chkalov streets in Aygezard, 22-year-old Marat Minasyan from the nearby village of Aygepat had attacked Sahakyan with a knife. Subsequently, he turned on Sahakyan's father, 48-year-old Arayik Sahakyan, who managed to defend himself while Minasyan fled the scene.
Hours later, the Artashat Medical Center notified the Artashat Police Department that the injured individual had been transported by ambulance to a hospital in Yerevan. Suspect Marat Minasyan has since been arrested.
