Turkish Policy Towards Armenia Will Not Change Significantly, Tigran Altun

In the event of victory by any of the candidates in Turkey's presidential elections, the Turkish state's policy towards Armenia will not undergo significant changes. This opinion was expressed by Tigran Altun, a member of the Armenian community in Istanbul.

“I believe Azerbaijan has a considerable influence on Turkey. That country has made so many investments here that Turkey cannot ignore it and is forced to follow Azerbaijani policy,” Altun stated in an interview with Armenpress.

Commenting on the noise raised by official Ankara regarding the installation of a statue dedicated to the “Nemesis” movement in Yerevan, Altun noted that these statements should also be linked to the presidential and parliamentary elections on May 14 and the aim to secure the votes from nationalist circles there.

“If they need to protest the installation of that statue, then we should also protest that in Armenian neighborhoods there are streets and schools named after Talaat Pasha. Moreover, all of this is happening in areas where Armenians live,” emphasized the member of the Armenian community in Istanbul.
