Deputy Foreign Minister Highlights Progress in Washington Negotiations
The behavior of Azerbaijan is not new; I have been involved in negotiations since 1995, and I do not remember a single round of talks without provocations either before or after meetings. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan during a conversation with journalists.
Discussing the outcomes of the Washington negotiations, the deputy minister noted: “The progress relates to a better understanding of the positions of both sides. The American side did everything possible to create a positive atmosphere; it was an effective phase in bringing those positions closer regarding a possible draft agreement. There are several important issues that still need to be discussed, which is why a high-level meeting is being organized in Brussels, followed by a meeting at the level of foreign ministers in Moscow. In some way, the Moscow meeting will be a logical continuation of these negotiations, but each format has its own peculiarities.”
The deputy minister also mentioned that the participation of Germany and France in the negotiations could have a positive contribution, considering they are the most influential countries in the EU.
