Establishing Peace in the Region Is Impossible Without Turkey, Says Simonian
The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, addressed the media in Turkey regarding Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, emphasizing that Armenia has no territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
“We are ready and interested in signing a peace treaty. We see no issues with opening the region for trade. Goods can move freely from Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan, as well as to Turkey, of course, considering Armenia's legislation and sovereignty,” Simonian noted.
According to Simonian, Armenia has continuously offered and continues to propose a mirror withdrawal of troops stationed at the border with Azerbaijan. “Establishing peace in this region is impossible without Turkey, and we are hopeful that Turkey will take effective steps toward establishing peace in the region,” he added.
It is worth mentioning that the delegation led by Alen Simonian is currently in Ankara to participate in the summit of the heads of parliaments of member states dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Parliamentary Assembly and the plenary session of the General Assembly.
