Russia Blocks Military Equipment Transit from India Through Iran, Says Gayane Abrahamyan
“Russia is obstructing the transportation of arms purchased from India to Armenia.” This statement was made yesterday during a public discussion on Public Television titled “Is Azerbaijan in the Lachin Corridor Due to Russia’s Weakness or Consent?” by Gayane Abrahamyan, president of the educational center “For Equal Rights” and former member of the National Assembly.
“I am confident that I have such information; Russia is hindering the delivery of military equipment from India through Iran. Russia should not obstruct this. We do not need their support, but at least they should not block the delivery of the weapons we purchased,” she said.
Ara Papyan, head of the Modus Vivendi center, also responded, stating that Russia should provide Armenia with the weapons promised in exchange for money transferred over the years. “We have been transferring funds for years to receive arms but have not obtained anything. We should finally receive them. We need weapons and troops from Russia; we can bring in observers even from Zanzibar,” he said.
According to Gayane Abrahamyan, despite not receiving the promised weapons in return for the transferred funds, Armenia continues to pay interest on that loan.
