Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Responds to Armenia's Foreign Ministry Statement

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has reacted to the statement from Armenia's Foreign Ministry regarding the establishment of a checkpoint in Lachin, asserting that their actions are legal.

"Azerbaijan's decision to establish a control and checkpoint at the border with Armenia is legal and complies with all norms of international law. Especially since during meetings in Prague and Sochi, Armenia itself recognized Azerbaijan's territorial integrity," the statement read.

The Azerbaijani foreign policy agency also noted that Armenia should respect and acknowledge Azerbaijan's right to control access to its own territory.

It should be recalled that Armenia's foreign policy agency stated that Azerbaijan's move is a blatant violation of one of the fundamental provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9 and is aimed at carrying out ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh and completely depopulating Artsakh. Official Yerevan has called on Moscow to "finally fulfill its obligations under the trilateral statement."
