Bronze, but It Holds the Value of Gold for Me: Hripsime Khurshudyan
Member of the Armenian women's weightlifting team, 87 kg competitor Hripsime Khurshudyan won a bronze medal with a total lift of 227 kg (107+120 kg) on the second-to-last competition day of the European Championships taking place in Yerevan.
Khurshudyan also secured small bronze medals in the snatch and clean and jerk categories. According to Khurshudyan, she is pleased with her results and emotional about the support from the fans.
"This medal was very desired for me. Even though it is a bronze medal, it holds the value of gold for me. I promised myself and the audience that if I returned, I would definitely win a medal," she said.
After the awards ceremony, Hripsime Khurshudyan was among the first to be congratulated by Nazik Avdalyan, the 2009 World Champion and double European Champion, who is part of the judges' committee at the European Championships held in Yerevan.
