What Mirzoyan and the US Deputy Secretary of State Discussed: Details
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, met with the US Deputy Secretary of State, Erika Olson, where they discussed issues related to establishing stability in the region and the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. This information was reported by the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
They spoke about border delimitation and security, the unblocking of all economic and transportation connections in the region, and the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.
“Ararat Mirzoyan presented the Armenian side's approaches to resolving existing key issues, including addressing the rights and security of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh with the aim of achieving comprehensive and sustainable peace. The Minister reaffirmed Armenia's commitment to the peace process, emphasizing the importance of Azerbaijan renouncing its revisionist ambitions and aggressive policies towards the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia’s territorial integrity,” the statement said.
The interlocutors also addressed the humanitarian situation created in Nagorno-Karabakh and the imperative to lift the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor in accordance with the provisions of the statement of November 9, 2020.
They exchanged thoughts on issues related to the bilateral agenda between Armenia and the USA, including strategic dialogue topics. The meeting was also attended by the US senior advisor on Caucasus negotiations, and co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, Luis Bono.
It is noteworthy that Erika Olson is in Armenia for a two-day visit. She has already met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan, and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Ruben Rubinyan.
