Azerbaijani President Aliyev: Armenia Must Acknowledge 'Nagorno-Karabakh is Azerbaijan'
Armenia must affirm the absence of territorial claims against Baku by declaring that Nagorno-Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan, stated Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
“Armenia, which once said 'Karabakh is Armenia and that's it,' today must say 'Karabakh is Azerbaijan.' Armenia, which has declared its readiness for a peace agreement based on the Alma-Ata Declaration, must now officially announce that Karabakh is Azerbaijan,” said Aliyev.
According to Aliyev, Armenia is fundamentally in agreement with the Azerbaijani approach regarding the peace treaty. “Because there is no other option. That is why Armenia officially recognized Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty during meetings held in Prague and Sochi last October. In other words, it has agreed that the borders between Azerbaijan and Armenia should be determined based on the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration,” stated the authoritarian leader of Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that today, in the National Assembly, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Armenia fully recognizes Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and expects Azerbaijan to do the same.
