Leak of Secret Documents Before Ukraine Counteroffensive
The U.S. Department of Defense is investigating the leak of data regarding the Ukrainian armed forces' planned offensive. This has been reported by The New York Times.
The discussions involve the number of Ukrainian troops, the supply of military equipment, and photographs of secret documents necessary for the offensive dated March 1. These photographs surfaced on Telegram and Twitter this week, raising doubts about their authenticity among users. Soon after, NYT published a report stating that U.S. military personnel were allegedly attempting to remove these images from the internet. Reports indicate that they are also searching for the source of the leak.
While the documents do not contain specific dates or locations for the Ukrainian forces' counteroffensive, they include information on the formation of 12 brigades, some of which are being prepared and supplied by the U.S. and NATO.
Users on social media in various countries do not rule out the possibility that the emergence of secret information and the article in the American press is a deliberate disinformation campaign.
Earlier, it was reported that a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian armed forces is expected in the coming weeks, as announced by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. He added that Western countries intend to 'do everything' to help Ukraine 'regain territories.'
