Moscow Delivers Iskander-M Missile System Capable of Using Nuclear Missiles to Minsk, Says Shoigu
Russia has transferred the Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system to the armed forces of Belarus. This was announced on April 4 during a conference at the Ministry of Defense by Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergey Shoigu. The information was reported by regnum.ru.
He reminded that the missile system is capable of using nuclear missiles. “The Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system has been transferred to the armed forces of Belarus. It can use both conventional and nuclear missiles,” said the defense official.
He also added that from April 3, training for Belarusian personnel on the use of the OTRK for the defense of the Union State has begun at one of the Russian training grounds.
As a reminder, in March, Moscow and Minsk agreed to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on Belarusian territory. As stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russia has transferred the 9K720 Iskander missile system capable of carrying nuclear warheads to Belarus. According to Putin, nuclear weapons will be deployed within the framework of respective international obligations.
