“It May Have Seemed to Him That Something Like This Happened”: Simonyan on the Incident at Cascade
No one has the right to call me a traitor. Secondly, do not mix the Diaspora with that member of our party who does not have Armenian citizenship and is freely engaged in his activities in Armenia. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, in a conversation with journalists regarding the recent incident where he was called a 'traitor' by a citizen at Cascade.
“Everything has been said about the incident; this is not the first time I am responding to such acts, and I will continue to do so in the future. Let no one think they can do such a thing. No one has the right to insult anyone, especially elected officials. There is a legislative interpretation, in this regard, no one has beaten anyone, did not hit anyone’s head against the toilet, didn't break anything, and there is no prosecution. I expressed my opinion about his freedom of speech. It may have seemed to him that something like this happened or he thought something like that occurred during the conversation,” said Simonyan.
