What Benefit Would I Have From Hitting Mher Sahakyan? Vladimir Vardanyan on the Controversial Incident
What benefit would I have from hitting Mher Sahakyan? What would I gain, and why would I dirty my hands? This statement was made by Vladimir Vardanyan, a member of the National Assembly's ruling My Step bloc and chairman of the legal affairs committee, during an interview on Public TV, referring to a recent incident in the National Assembly.
“Gegham Nazaryan and Artsvik Minasyan were telling me, please don’t do anything, we will punish him. I am usually accused of not displaying enough aggression. Lawyer MP Mr. Sahakyan could have filed a complaint against me with the ethics committee if he was dissatisfied. He did not do such a thing. After the substantive discussion ended, our opposition colleagues returned to the songs of the old days. I urged both sides to return to a normal negotiating process, as this is a path that leads nowhere. Mr. Sahakyan said, why are you raising your voice, and I said that I am merely trying to regulate the situation. I mentioned that your colleagues are the ones who diverted the discussion. He replied, you cannot; I said I am obliged to do what I’m doing,” Vardanyan noted.
