Meeting of Yesterday Cannot Be Considered the Start of Baku-Stepanakert Dialogue: Davit Babayan
The meeting between representatives of Azerbaijan and Artsakh cannot be considered the start of dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert.
This was stated by Davit Babayan, an adviser to the President of the Artsakh Republic, on his Facebook page.
"This is not political. It pertains to infrastructure and the unblocking of roads that was ongoing, and Russian peacekeepers have been conducting these negotiations and consultations since the very first day of the blockade. In no way can this be regarded as dialogue on political matters concerning the future of Artsakh. Meetings in this format are important, but that does not mean that anyone can envision Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan in any capacity. It is impossible. Since 1988, no one in Artsakh has considered themselves or their country as part of Azerbaijan. Even from 1921 until 1988, when Artsakh was annexed to Azerbaijan, the people of Artsakh did not reconcile with that reality. And now we must ensure that these humanitarian issues are resolved effectively. It is necessary to unite and, by pursuing wise politics, save Artsakh," he emphasized.
