VIDEO: Police Use Tear Gas Against Protesters in Paris

A second mass demonstration against pension reforms has begun in France. The protests are organized by trade unions, and according to their data, today, on January 31, 500,000 people have protested in Paris alone. A police source cited by AFP states that up to 1.2 million people will take to the streets across the country. This is reported by Kommersant.ru.

BFM TV reports that police in Paris have used tear gas against the protesters. This occurred after the crowd began throwing various objects at the police.

Plans to raise the minimum pension age to 64 years starting in 2030 were officially announced in early January, and authorities have stated that the ongoing protests will not affect the implementation of the reforms. According to a survey conducted in mid-January, more than two-thirds of the French (68%) oppose raising the retirement age.
