VIDEO: How People Escaped during the Explosion at 'Mega Khimki' Shopping Center
Russian media outlets have released a video showing how people fled from the 'Mega Khimki' shopping center during the explosion. It has also been noted that a case has been opened regarding the provision of services that did not meet security requirements. The damage from the fire, including parked vehicles, may amount to 20-30 billion rubles, according to the Russian Union of Insurers.
Additionally, the fire at the 'Mega Khimki' shopping center, located in the Moscow region, has been contained. Preliminary information indicates that one person has lost their life in the incident. Emergency services reported that the cause of the fire was welding work in an auxiliary structure of the building. Previously, arson had been considered as a cause.
At the same time, the 'OBI' store has been completely reduced to ashes, with only the load-bearing structures remaining intact. Currently, isolated hotspots of fire are observed inside the building.
It is worth noting that the fire broke out at 6 AM in the shopping center. Explosions were reported in the construction section of the 'OBI' store. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the area affected by the fire covers 18,000 square meters.
