Unknown Person Opens Fire on Police Near Luhansk Border; Wagner Group Responds to Accusations
In the Novoshakhtinsk district, located near the border with the Luhansk People's Republic, an unknown man opened fire on police officers and then fled the scene. Reports circulating in the media suggest that the gunman may have been a member of the Wagner Group.
On Tuesday around noon, a man in camouflage fired at police officers in Novoshakhtinsk and subsequently escaped. One police officer sustained a gunshot wound. The city is taking measures to locate and arrest the attacker. It has been reported that the injured officer's condition is assessed as moderate.
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder of the Wagner Group, responded to the news, stating that an investigation would determine whether the individual who fired shots in Novoshakhtinsk indeed served within his ranks.
