Artsakh Will Not Be Part of Azerbaijan, Says Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh has issued a statement that particularly notes: “Recently, there has been a resurgence of various discussions, comments, and opinions regarding the status of the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, which is an objective process considering the central nature of this issue in the resolution process of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict.
Official Stepanakert welcomes any steps aimed at a peaceful and comprehensive resolution of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, as well as the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. At the same time, the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Artsakh is authorized to declare that the official position of the people and authorities of Artsakh remains unchanged. Artsakh will not be part of Azerbaijan.
The normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the resolution of border issues between the two countries, cannot and should not be linked to the status of the Republic of Artsakh. The territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan has no bearing on the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh and its status, which has been established by our nation's people in full and strict compliance with the norms and principles of international law, as well as the then-current Soviet legislation,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh stated.
