New Video from Iran: Protests Become More Widespread
Protests in Iran are becoming more widespread. They have not subsided following the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who was arrested for "improper hijab" and died in police custody, as reported by Nexta Live.
Earlier, it was reported that women are taking off their headscarves in the streets, cutting their hair, and activists are throwing incendiary mixtures at security forces while chanting "Death to the dictator." Demonstrators are also tearing down and destroying official state symbols, setting cars on fire, and organizing marches that block the streets of Tehran.
The police are dispersing the protesters by firing warning shots, and it has been reported that a wave of mass arrests has begun. Earlier, on September 13, Mahsa Amini died in Iran after being detained by the morality police for not wearing her hijab properly. The girl deteriorated in custody and died in the hospital a few hours later. According to authorities, the cause of the tragedy was a heart attack. However, another theory is put forth by eyewitnesses and relatives, who claim that the girl died as a result of police brutality.
