We Need to Understand How the Pope Endures This Journey: Archbishop on Pope's Visit to Kyiv
The head of the Holy See's external relations, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, has not ruled out that Pope Francis could visit Ukraine as early as August.
“The Pope believes that if he could make the trip, it would have positive results. He said he would go to Ukraine, and he has always expressed a desire to visit Moscow, as well as meet with the Russian authorities,” Gallagher said during an interview on Rai1.
When asked if the trip to Kyiv could take place after returning from Canada, where the pontiff will head at the end of July, Gallagher replied, “Yes, I think that after returning from Canada, we will really start exploring that possibility.”
Speaking about the possibility of a visit in early August, Gallagher stated, “I would not completely rule that out, but much depends on the outcomes of the trip to Canada. We will see how the Pope withstands this journey, which will be quite intense, and then we will see.”
