Japan Will Not Receive Oil or Gas from Russia, Medvedev Responds to Japanese Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, recently stated that the West will soon lower the price of Russian oil to half of its current value. Kishida mentioned that a mechanism will soon be established that will prevent the purchase of Russian oil at prices above the set limit. This is expected to help curb the increase in energy resource costs.

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, wrote on his Telegram channel that this indicates two things. Firstly, there will be significantly less oil in the market, and thus, prices will rise substantially, with preliminary forecasts suggesting $300-400 per barrel.

For those who do not believe this, Medvedev suggested comparing the situation to the dynamics of global gas prices, which are again setting records.

“As for Japan, it will receive neither oil nor gas from Russia. Nor will it have participation in the Sakhalin-2 project. Arigato,” noted Medvedev.
