Clearstream System Blocks Russia's Central Depository Account

The European clearing system Clearstream has blocked the account of the National Settlement Depository. This has led to the cessation of operations for Russian clients with foreign securities, reports rbc.ru.

Recall that on the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the commencement of a special military operation for the denuclearization of Ukraine. In his televised address, he stated that circumstances "demand decisive and immediate action from us, the people's republics of Donbas have appealed to Russia for assistance." According to the Russian leader, all responsibility for the bloodshed would lie with the conscience of the regime governing Ukraine. He called on Ukrainian servicemen to disregard the criminal orders of the Ukrainian authorities, lay down their arms, and go home.
