31% of Pastures in Goris Under Enemy Control, Says Irina Yolyan
Irina Yolyan, the Deputy Mayor of Goris, stated on her Facebook page: “After the war, agriculture is in a disastrous state. Around 31% of the pastures and hayfields in the Goris community are under enemy control, and livestock numbers have decreased by about 28%, including those stolen by the enemy.
A significant portion of the hayfields near the border has not been cultivated, as people are afraid to approach the border due to periodic disputes and reported threats. There is currently no comprehensive program being implemented to overcome these issues. If no measures are taken to address the problems in the agricultural sector, we will soon face severe food shortages.
It is also unclear what measures will be taken, for example, regarding the subsidies for fertilizers and fuel; otherwise, against the backdrop of terrifying price hikes, farmers will be unable to cultivate the land. The only ones to suffer will not be the farmers, as the village supports the city.
