A Rebellion is Brewing: 'Hraparak'
Shortly, the Union of Judges will issue a statement regarding the draft law adopted in the second reading by the National Assembly yesterday, reports 'Hraparak'.
The draft allows the Supreme Judicial Council to make decisions in the presence of at least 6 members and with 5 votes in favor. The 5 members include scientific members.
Judges are expressing discontent with this draft, stating that they will not back down and will seek intervention from international bodies, viewing this as yet another anti-democratic step by the political authorities.
According to our information, the Union of Judges plans to appeal to the Venice Commission, the Council of Europe’s group of countries fighting against corruption, the UN Human Rights Council, the International Association of Judges, and the European Judges’ Association.
