US State Department Confirms Authenticity of Leaked Responses on Security Guarantees

The US State Department has confirmed the authenticity of documents published by the Spanish newspaper El País. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

Official spokesperson Ned Price made a corresponding statement, as conveyed by RIA Novosti. “I saw nothing in these documents that would lead me to conclude they are not real,” he said during a press briefing.

Earlier, the US and NATO had declined to comment on the publication related to responses to Russian proposals regarding security guarantees in Europe. However, the Pentagon later indirectly confirmed the authenticity of the document, indicating that the media leak was not the fault of the American side.

On February 2, El País published the content of American responses to Russian security guarantees. According to the text, the US and NATO propose to restore relations and the operations of embassies closed in 2021, while simultaneously threatening to deploy more troops in Eastern Europe “in the event of Moscow's aggression against Kyiv.”
