UN Calls for De-escalation Amid U.S. Troop Deployments to Europe
The UN Secretary-General António Guterres has urged for de-escalation and a diplomatic resolution of disputes against the backdrop of reports about the deployment of U.S. troops to Europe. This was reported by RT.
“Our comment remains the same. The UN Secretary-General calls on all parties to resolve their disagreements through dialogue and urges for de-escalation,” said Farhan Haq, the Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, as quoted by RIA Novosti.
Earlier, the Pentagon announced that the United States is sending additional forces to Romania, Poland, and Germany. The military department emphasized that the deployment of additional troops in Eastern Europe is temporary and is intended to “strengthen the defense of allies.”
