US and EU Seek Alternative Gas Supply Routes Amid Escalation in Ukraine: Pentagon

The United States Department of Defense is collaborating with countries around the world to discuss options for supplying natural gas to Europe. This was stated by Pentagon spokesman John Kirby, as reported by Govorit Moskva.

According to Kirby, Washington assumes that Moscow may use its energy resources as a weapon in the conflict against Ukraine. Recently, Kyiv and Western countries have claimed about a purported planned attack by Russia, while Moscow denies these accusations.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that Russia is not creating any pretext for conflict against Ukraine. The Kremlin has stated that Russia has always fulfilled its contractual obligations regarding gas supplies flawlessly and has provided no grounds to doubt its reliability.
