Croatian Prime Minister Apologizes to Ukraine After President's Bold Statement
Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković has responded to President Zoran Milanović's remarks that Ukraine has "no place in NATO" and that the Revolution of Dignity was a "coup d'état." According to the publication Dnevnik, Plenković stated that the President's words do not reflect the government's position and apologized to Ukraine.
Commenting on Milanović's statements, he added that he “thought it was a Russian official speaking.”
“The political stance of Croatia is to reduce tension, prevent possible conflict, and support Ukraine's territorial integrity. This is our principled position,” Plenković assured.
Following the President's statements, the Croatian ambassador was summoned by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which demanded a public retraction of Milanović's words.
