Aliyev Makes New Statement on the Construction of the Zangezur Corridor
Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has announced that construction work on the Zangezur Corridor is progressing successfully, and Armenia is also planning to start construction work on its territory. This was reported by Interfax-Azerbaijan.
"A favorable environment for cooperation in the region has been created since the end of the Patriotic War (Nagorno-Karabakh War - Interfax). A very promising '3+3' platform has been established for regional cooperation. The first meeting has already taken place; I am confident that these meetings will be held regularly and will ensure the interests of the countries in the region," Aliyev said during a meeting with Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Rostam Qasemi.
Aliyev expressed hope that Iranian companies would actively work in the 'liberated territories of Azerbaijan, including Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.' According to the Azerbaijani president, work is also being done towards the establishment of the Zangezur Corridor. "Both highway and railway construction are progressing well. We are also receiving good news from Armenia; Armenia is also planning to start this work on its territory," he noted.
