US Calls for the Removal of Russia and Belarus from the OSCE
James Gilmore, former US ambassador to the OSCE, has called for the removal of Russia and Belarus from the organization in an article for Foreign Policy, linking it to the situation surrounding Ukraine. He argues that if this does not happen, Washington should cease funding the OSCE.
“Measures should be taken to expel Russia from all international organizations, starting with the OSCE. The OSCE supports the principles of the Helsinki Accords, including the principle that no country should attack another outside recognized borders,” Gilmore writes in his article.
Gilmore also asserts that traditionally neutral Sweden and Finland now realize that they are threatened by “being subjected to another state.” “It is time for the US to aggressively recruit these two countries, forcing them to become NATO members,” said the former US ambassador to the OSCE.
