MP Calls Journalists Verbal Prostitutes, Ready to Repeat Indefinitely
During a speech at the National Assembly session, MP Vahagn Aleksanyan from the "Civil Contract" faction clarified his remarks directed at certain journalists. According to Armenpress, Aleksanyan emphasized that he is ready to repeat what he said endlessly.
“I said something yesterday, I am ready to repeat it now, tomorrow, and indefinitely, because all the news outlets that have been involved in encouraging the Chief of the General Staff to introduce tanks into Yerevan, all the news outlets that have been spreading statements threatening the life and security of the Prime Minister's family and underage children, sowing hatred against them, yes, those news outlets are verbal prostitutes. Now they say that journalists are offended. Dear journalists, if you have not engaged in such activities, and I am sure that there are many journalists who have not, and I know those journalists, naturally, these words do not pertain to you. It is obvious, isn’t it? But if you have engaged in such activities, of course, this pertains to you, and you can file a lawsuit against me,” Aleksanyan said.
Earlier, MP Agnesa Khatoyan from the "Armenia" faction urged Vahagn Aleksanyan to apologize to the journalists. “If you are truly sincere in your statements, you should apologize to the media from this podium,” Khatoyan said.
Referring to the professional activities of certain journalists, Aleksanyan mentioned that daily propaganda of hatred is carried out for money. “Many have failed to differentiate and realize that they are not verbal prostitutes, but journalists. Let the true representatives of that profession forgive me, but such people invited the Chief of Staff on air to bring tanks into Yerevan, because they are immoral… verbal prostitution is a more expensive pleasure in Armenia than the ordinary kind,” Aleksanyan stated in his speech.
