EU Urges Yerevan and Baku to Utilize Established Direct Communication
The European Union has expressed concern over recent incidents along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and has shown readiness to support the delimitation and demarcation processes.
“I am deeply concerned about reports of new incidents and casualties along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. It is crucial for both sides to de-escalate the situation and fully utilize available mechanisms, including the hotline established between the ministries of defense under EU auspices in November 2021,” wrote Toivo Klaar, the EU representative in the South Caucasus, on his Twitter page.
Klaar has affirmed the EU’s willingness to work with both sides towards the withdrawal of forces. “I reaffirm our readiness to provide additional support on issues of delimitation and demarcation,” he noted.
