How Long Will CSTO Forces Remain in Kazakhstan? Putin Clarifies
The CSTO forces will remain in Kazakhstan for as long as necessary, and after fulfilling their functions, the troops will be withdrawn from the country. This statement was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin during an emergency meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council, as reported by RIA Novosti.
Putin also noted that the CSTO units are in Kazakhstan at the official request of the country's leadership, which fully complies with Article 4 of the Collective Security Treaty signed in 1992.
